The Renault 10    1965 to 1972

The 10 was introduced in 1965 with production running until 1972.
The Ten underwent two changes - in 1968 the engine was increased from 1108cc to 1300cc and the headlights changed from round to oblong. The Ten shared most of the Eights mechanics.

The Ten was also known as the Ten Eleven hundred and the Ten Thirteen hundred reflecting the two engine sizes.

This was the last of the rear engine Renaults of this period.

Four cylinder in line detachable wet liners.  Compression ratio 8:1

Bore 73mm Stroke 77mm Cubic capacity 1289cc                             

 Max power gross (sae) 52bhp at 4,800 rpm                              Max torque Gross (SAE) 71.6 lb/ft. at 2,500 rpm

Valve gear type overhead pushrods and rockers

Special single roller chain driven camshaft

Crankshaft five bearings .Cylinder head Light alloy shrunk in valve seats.

Carburetter : Solex 32 DITA with automatic choke

Ignition : Distributor with centrifugal and vacuum control

Battery 12 volts 40 amp/hr

Transmission

Four speed all synchromesh  1st 14.93 2nd 9.28 3rd 6.11 top 4.25 reverse 12.70:1  Final drive 8x33 (4.125)

Diaphragm clutch with single dry plate.

Road speed 16.3 mph at 1000 rpm in top gear.

Brakes 

Hydraulic with fully floating calipers and pads. Pressure limiting valve in rear line Disc diameter 10.2 ins front and rear.

Friction area 43.4 sq ins of pad on 342 sq ins if discs

Suspension.

Independent on all four wheels Coil springs and hydraulic telescopic shoch absorbers with additional rubber elements around the front shock absorber shafts giving a progressive variable rate of springing.Anti roll bar at the front and longitudinal tie rods at the rear.

Steering

Direct action rack and pinion. Reduction ratio 20:1 Turning circle 30.5 feet (between kerbs)
