Nick's restoration

Restoring the body work on an R16 can be a daunting task and requires patients and skill. When buying a 16 it is wise to consult with our registrar or an experienced R16 owner to avoid serious expense.

These pages are intended to give you some indication of the work that can be required but also to show you that it can be done and the car brought back to many years of life.

Mike Stokes runs a Village Garage in Burton Latimer Northants and has been repairing The R16 for many years. Mick has also had some repair sections made up to ensure safe repair.

This is the story of the restoration of Mike's own TS which is a longish term project having to be fitted in between the normal running of the garage and customers restoration work.

The Arrival

As can be seen from these two photographs Mike's TS looked a pretty sound vehicle when it arrived at his workshop but the following pictures will tell a different story
